35 Years of Corporate Gifting: What We've Learned Since 1991

Five lessons from 35 years of corporate gifting in Singapore: gifts that get used beat gifts that get admired; quality is remembered long after price is forgotten; plan early or pay for it later; the logo application matters as much as the product; great gifting is a relationship, not a transaction

We've been putting logos on gifts in Singapore since 1991 — through five recessions, the rise of the internet, and a global pandemic that changed how offices work. Here's what three and a half decades taught us about gifts that actually land.

When we started in 1991, a “corporate gift” usually meant a branded pen or a desk calendar. The fax machine was cutting-edge. Since then we've supplied gifts to leading organisations across government, healthcare, media, technology and transport — including Singapore Airlines, ExxonMobil, AMD, Courts, Rockwell Automation, SPH, Singapore General Hospital and the Land Transport Authority, among many others.

Different eras, different products — but the same handful of lessons keep proving true. Here are five.

1. The best gift is one that gets used, not admired

A gift that sits in a drawer does nothing for your brand. A gift someone reaches for every day — a good water bottle, a bag they actually carry, a genuinely useful desk tool — keeps your logo in their life for months. Usefulness beats novelty almost every time.

2. Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten

A cheap gift that breaks or feels flimsy sends the wrong message about your brand. We've watched the market shift decisively away from mass giveaways toward fewer, better items — and recipients notice. One good gift beats ten forgettable ones.

3. Plan early, or pay for it later

The single most common source of stress we see is a tight deadline. Locally produced items need around three weeks; custom or overseas production around two months. The clients who gift well are the ones who plan backwards from the date — not the ones scrambling the week before.

4. The logo application matters as much as the product

The same bottle can look premium or cheap depending on how the logo is applied. Choosing the right decoration method — embroidery, laser engraving, pad print, UV — for each product and each artwork is where experience earns its keep. It's the difference between a gift people are proud to use and one they quietly retire.

5. Great gifting is a relationship, not a transaction

Many of our clients have gifted with us for over a decade. That's not because we're the cheapest — it's because they trust us to source the right thing, hit the deadline, and make them look good in front of their people. Corporate gifting, done well, is one company saying “we value you” to another. We take that seriously.
